WORDS OF HOPE MINISTRY

MOMENT OF HOPE

Updated: Jul 22

Hello! And welcome to our newsletter now in a new and different way. We are excited to have new ways to communicate and we appreciate your grace as we learn to do things a little differently. In the meantime, change is... well, change. So, if you have any questions, please just let us know and we will be happy to help. As you read this newsletter, please remember how much we appreciate you and thank you for being a part of this ministry.

It has been months of God doing amazing things in our community. We have received groups that have given a weekend of their lives to be a blessing to families in our city, we have seen God's provision in our community dining hall and breakfast room, as well as in the construction of homes for two families that needed them and much more! We have seen His care and love through every doctor and volunteer who has come to serve this community in the community medical clinics and so many other ways in which God reminds us again and again how much He loves us.

Ladies Coffe Time

In this first half of the year, about 100 women have been part of our monthly meetings. These meetings are a time to celebrate and encourage every woman in our community. From teenagers to seniors, all are welcome. Another program that has been growing is our weekly coffee and crafts workshop, where more and more women are joining to grow in their faith and develop their creative skills.

Homes of Hope

Alma and Jose moved to Peñasco about seven years ago. Although at first they were living with José's mother, they had to look for another place to live with their children because the space was too small for all of them. At first some friends offered to take care of their house rent free, but at the beginning of last year they started asking for rent and at the beginning of this year they were asked to vacate the house and have fallen into a hard time. Alma's dream has always been to have her own home for her and her family, but due to economic and health difficulties it had not been possible.

Brenda and Ivan had been living in a rented house for many years but about two years ago they were asked to vacate and had to move to a room they borrowed from relatives for them and their five children to live in. Although for many years they tried to save to build their house, it was never possible to have enough money to do so.

"Dreams come true."

In March, a group of 40 young people from the University of Arizona came with Young Life in Arizona and built two houses, one for each family, who now have a fresh start in a home of their own.

Hope Adventures

A trip that can impact many lives. The missionary groups we host, whether for a weekend or a full week make a difference in our community by doing different community, evangelism or construction projects.

Living Streams Church visited us with a missionary group at the end of February. They supported some community projects at the community center; construction of a volleyball court, supported the Saturday kids club program for 50 children in our community, as well as our monthly women's meeting program and built a porch at the Young Life clubhouse.

A group of people from the Young Life ministry in Nashville, USA spent a week in our community supporting two families in need with the construction of two roofs.

On an Adventure of Hope, you not only see God change the lives of those you serve, but you also see Him transform your own life.

Medical Clinics

The impact that the medical care provided by the volunteer doctors who come to our city has had on our community has always been great. Access to health services in our city is very difficult, sometimes it can take months or years waiting for an appointment in the public health sector or it requires a high economic cost that most people cannot cover if they seek medical attention or treatment in the private health sector.

During the first half of the year we have held a total of 25 medical clinics in which about 3600 people have been attended, a prosthesis clinic where 11 new people were attended to and 7 prostheses were delivered. We have held eight dental clinics providing care to 367 people in total and a vein clinic for 185 men and women with varicose veins problems.

It is a great blessing to receive every doctor and volunteer that comes to serve our community but, now we can also say, that the impact of this blessing spreads throughout our state. As we continue to do clinics in our city and in Sonoyta, people from other cities come to our clinics seeking support for their health problems, such as the need for a prosthesis, surgery or help with an illness.

In addition to our monthly clinics, more and more volunteers are joining us to do clinics at our community center, such as CCV Church, College of Medicine, Advanced Vein Center, The Ososrio Foundation, Limbs for Humanity. To whom we are immensely grateful for joining the wonderful team of health volunteers who give their time, skills and knowledge with so much love to help our community. To all of you THANK YOU!

Kids Club

The little ones continue to be the heart of our programs. Every Saturday we are receiving between 35 - 50 children who we spoil with nutritious and fun breakfasts. They also participate in amazing activities such as games, crafts, Bible challenges to name a few. A few weeks ago, we shared with children about the importance of staying close to God and how they could do it.

As challenges we invited them to make their first devotional where each day they can write their prayers, favorite verses, what they are learning or want to know more. Some of them are still doing it today and it has allowed us to have an impact even in the family, because their parents get involved little by little to help them read, write or talk about the portion of the Bible they are reading every day.

Community Dining Hall

As an extension of God's love for each soul; we continue in the mission to feed those who need it most and we are very grateful for all the support you give us to make this possible.

We are currently serving between 150 - 200 meals between children and adults. By supporting this program; more than just giving a meal to someone who is hungry, we are creating an opportunity to share Hope. Without a doubt, your support is having a great impact on our community, thank you for continuing to bless those in need.

Opportunity to share hope

We offer several ways to get involved, from short-term volunteering to sponsoring to our different programs, we appreciate your support.

We are currently starting our annual school supply drive to support students from preschool through college for the next school year, and we are also preparing for our upcoming Bible Summer School. So we really appreciate your support to continue blessing our children and young people.
